The focus of Walter Lichte’s activity is on advisory services to artists and the support of their careers. He provides counsel primarily in the areas copyright, publishing law and the law of collecting societies. His activity also comprises the support of business transactions. Among his clients are, beside a large number of renowned artists, German and international companies from the art and media industry and international investment firms.
Walter Lichte studied law in Freiburg im Breisgau and Hamburg. As Vice President Polygram Publishing International, he established the international publishers’ network of the Polygram Publishing Group (today Warner-Chappell Music Publishing). Walter Lichte has been chairman of the supervisory board of edel music AG since 1992.
Until 2008, he also acted as managing director of Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Foundation, now operating under the name „Musik Hilft … by Nordoff Robbins“. In this function, he supported the Music Therapy Centre in Witten-Herdecke.
His publications include the chapter “Music Publishing Contracts” in the Music Industry Handbook, the standard work of the sector.
According to the JUVE handbook “Commercial Law Firms”, Walter Lichte is one of the leading names in music law.
